Assembly: Being Me! 10.5.17

In our assembly this week we talked about Self Esteem.

We watched a video from Newsround called Being Me, exploring what kids think about their body image.

It’s presented by Millie from Millie Inbetween, who asks why our appearance is such a big deal to so many of us.

The programme follows four children as they take part in an exercise to find out how they see themselves and popstar Meghan Trainor explains how she struggled with body image worries.

Millie gave us some TOP TIPS:

  1. Replace any negative thoughts with positive ones. What do we like about ourselves? What can our bodies do?

  2. Most of what we see in the media has been computer generated and made to look better. It’s not about the exterior, lets compliment each other on who we are.

  3. LOVE Yourself!

  4. Listen to your body. If you’re hungry EAT! Eating healthy foods and exercising is a great way to feel better.

All children were asked to go home and think about 3 things that were great about them. Elizabeth produced some great work! Well done!

So let’s all start believing in ourselves!
